Yesterday was a kick-off day for our new study with molecular hydrogen! In this double-blind RCT, we have started to analyze the effects of six-week hydrogen plus pyrroloquinoline quinone supplementation on several mitochondrial indices, brain metabolism, and cognition outcomes in adults > 65 years. From analyzing the levels of fibroblast growth factor 21 and irisin in the serum, to prefrontal oxygen saturation and MRS spectra for brain creatine, our trial will try to build a case for this mitochondria-targeted combination in a sensible population of seniors!
