Creatine for chronic fatigue syndrome

This study evaluates the efficacy of 3-month supplementation with creatine to improve subjective indicators of fatigue, health-related quality of life and work capacity in adults with chronic fatigue syndrome, a debilitating and complex ailment characterized by profound fatigue of unknown cause.

Ideal participants will be:

  • men and non-pregnant women older than 18 years
  • who fulfilled CDC criteria for chronic fatigue syndrome
    • persistent fatigue of new or definite onset
    • not the result of ongoing exertion
    • not substantially alleviated by rest
    • results in substantial reduction in regular activities
  • who have no psychiatric co-morbidity
  • who reported no use of dietary supplements within 4 weeks prior to recruitment
  • available for study period of ~ 6 months
