Creatine for chronic fatigue syndrome
This study evaluates the efficacy of 3-month supplementation with creatine to improve subjective indicators of fatigue, health-related quality of life and work capacity in adults with chronic fatigue syndrome, a debilitating and complex ailment characterized by profound fatigue of unknown cause.
Ideal participants will be:
- men and non-pregnant women older than 18 years
- who fulfilled CDC criteria for chronic fatigue syndrome
- persistent fatigue of new or definite onset
- not the result of ongoing exertion
- not substantially alleviated by rest
- results in substantial reduction in regular activities
- who have no psychiatric co-morbidity
- who reported no use of dietary supplements within 4 weeks prior to recruitment
- available for study period of ~ 6 months
